Head, heart and hands. To know, to love and to serve. These are the reasons I am running for City Council.
I work in healthcare for the largest physician-owned family practice in northern Colorado. I have seen up close just how devastating COVID has been to our community. Our practice takes care of almost 100,000 lives, and we care very deeply about their health.
I have almost 25 years of business experience, with a degree in Finance and two Masters degrees. The compassion I have as a healthcare professional combined with my experience and skills from the business world make me uniquely qualified to help our great city at this crucial time. I know what it takes to heal our people, and revitalize our economy.
I have served our community in various roles, including:
- served on the Board of the Fort Collins Housing Authority
- City Plan Ambasador
- more than 2 years on the Local Legislative Affairs Committee
- co-Chaired the Health Care work group of the Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance
- Budget Advisory Committee on the Poudre School District
Recently I was honored to be chosen for the inaugural class of Leveraging Local Leaders, or L3. This program trains and educates professionals on numerous challenges facing our region such as affordable housing, water, transportation, infrastructure, and sustainability.
As a finance professional I have spent a lot of time creating and working with budgets. I will help make sure that the City government is transparent, and that your tax dollars are used effectively and efficiently.
One of my greatest passions is prison ministry at Sterling Correctional Facility, the largest prison in Colorado. To see how God is changing lives in prison is truly something to behold. To be used for that purpose is one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences of my life. If you are interested in prison ministry I encourage you to watch this video.
I have an amazing wife and two beautiful children. My wife works as a pre-school teacher, my son is a Junior at Fossil Ridge HS, and my daughter is a 7th grader at a local middle school (and one heck of a dancer!). This campaign for City Council makes me think of my kids a lot, because I want to make sure that, many years from now, the Fort Collins they raise their kids in is just as great as the Fort Collins Jen and I are raising them in. It’s this long-term vision for a strong and sustainable Fort Collins that inspires me to serve on City Council.
In my spare time I like to play drums for the praise band at my church. I am also a KCBS-certified BBQ judge, and I enjoy playing league hockey at Epic.
